Two St. Martin Parish men arrested in connection with cocaine manufacturing operation

Two St. Martin Parish men were arrested on November 17 following an investigation into reports of illegal drug activity.

Narcotics agents with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant after an undercover agent purchased crack cocaine from a home on Perkins Street in St. Martinville. The home was searched and agents recovered materials, supplies, and equipment used to manufacture crack cocaine. They also found cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, hydrocodone, ecstasy, a loaded handgun, and $7,000 in cash.

The following men were arrested and charged as follows:

  • Broderick Sylvester, 28, of St. Martinville:
    • Violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law: drug free zone
    • Creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of a controlled dangerous substance
    • Possession with the intent to distribute schedule II CDS (cocaine)
    • Possession of schedule III CDS (hydrocodone)
    • Possession of schedule I CDS (marijuana)
    • Possession of schedule I CDS (MDMA)
  • Andre Wiltz, 22, of Breaux Bridge
    • Violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law: drug free zone
    • Possession with the intent to distribute schedule II CDS (crack cocaine)
    • Possession of schedule III CDS (hydrocodone)
    • Possession of schedule I CDS (marijuana)
    • Illegal carrying of weapons (possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS)

Sylvester and Wiltz were both booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. No bond has currently been set.
