RAPIDES PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was killed in a two-vehicle crash south of Alexandria on Monday, according to authorities.
Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Boris Boyd, 51. Troopers reported the driver of the other vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital.
Master Tpr. Daniel Moreau said the crash happened on I-49 north of the Avoyelles Parish line just before 7 p.m.
He explained Boyd was headed south on I-49 in a 2004 Saturn Ion and tried to switch lanes.
He added Boyd was "traveling very slow" while trying to move over from the left lane to the right and a 2015 Nissan 370 driven by Kevin Tran, 20, of Monroe, in the right lane collided with Boyd's car.
According to Moreau, Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene and Tran was taken to Rapides Regional Trauma Center with moderate injuries.
As with all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways, officials reported blood samples were taken from both drivers for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
