Victim in Brady St. shooting dies; BRPD investigates 3 shootings over 5-hour period

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police are investigating a third shooting, which turned fatal, in less than five hours. At this time, police do not believe the cases are connected.

Police responded to the latest shooting in 3200 block of Brady Street, which is located between North Acadian and Plank Road, around 4 p.m. Monday. 

Officials say the victim in this case, 21-year-old Wykenda Brown, was shot and was transported in critical condition to the hospital, where she died from her injuries. 

Police believe that Brown was shot during gunfire exchange between unknown subjects after an altercation. Officials said there are no suspects are known at this time. 

Earlier Monday, police responded to two different non-life threatening shootings. The first happened shortly before noon on Gus Young Ave. and the second happened on Byron Ave.
