DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - A police officer has been placed on administrative leave after his arrest on a charge of stalking, according to officials.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reported Larian McMurray, 41, was arrested Thursday. The Denham Springs Police Department said McMurray is a sergeant with the department.
Investigators said McMurray continued to contact the victim "against the victim's explicit wishes" after a long-term relationship ended between the two.
Detectives added they learned McMurray also threatened the victim.
McMurray was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center. No bond was set.
The Denham Springs Police Department said McMurray will remain on leave pending the outcome of the investigation by LPSO.
Interim Police Chief J. Shannon Womack said the department does not take the allegations lightly and will work to make sure everything associated with the investigation is carried out in accordance with the law.
