BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish officials announced that George O'Neal Rd. will be closed to through traffic east of Jones Creek Rd. beginning November 6 at 12 p.m.
The closure is part of an ongoing construction project. The road will reopen on November 18 at 8 p.m.
Coursey Blvd. at Jones Creek Rd. is also scheduled to reopen on November 6 at 12 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to take the following alternate route:
The primary detour for the closure of George O'Neal Rd. will be to and from Jones Creek Rd., Harrell's Ferry Rd., and O'Neal Ln.
Access to local business in the area will be maintained.
Jones Creek Rd. and Coursey Blvd. will remain open.
Signage will be placed in these areas to direct traffic around the closed section of George O'Neal Rd. The closure will allow for the construction of the Coursey Blvd. Jones Creek Rd., and George O'Neal Rd. intersection improvement. By closing the road, it should reduce the construction time for this portion of the project from several months to 12 days.
