TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WAFB) - More officials are urging people to practice safe burning practices due to dry conditions in the area.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said fire chiefs are asking people to not burn leaves and tree limbs at this time.
He added the fire chiefs expressed concern that the lack of rain could produce extreme fire hazards.
"I've been told that several of our departments have already battled some intense grass fires in our area, and our chiefs are concerned that the continued dry conditions, coupled with increased winds, will spark the potential for wildfires in our area," Miller said in a written release.
The parish has not officially declared a burn ban.
