ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Flood victims in Ascension Parish will get a little more time to clear out the mess left behind from gutting their homes.
"We wanted to give the public as much time as possible to get rid of their debris," said Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa.
The Lamar-Dixon Expo Center has been serving as a drop off location for flood debris. It was originally set to close on October 31, but officials have extended the deadline to November 13.
The drop off location is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
Residents are asked to enter through the back gates of Lamar Dixon off Ashland Road. You will then continue to the back of Lamar towards the sewer treatment plant. You will be be asked for a valid driver's license proving you are a resident of Ascension Parish.
Contractors are not allowed to bring debris to this location.
