SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) -

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Ascension Parish, according to deputies.

Deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office were called out to the scene of a double fatality crash on US 61 (Airline Highway) near LA 22 in Sorrento before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The sheriff's office identified the two victims as 59-year-old Leo Scott, who was an employee with the Town of Sorrento, and 38-year-old Jason Hoffmann, of Covington. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Deputy Bobby Webre said that Scott was driving his work truck on US 61 while doing his job when his vehicle was struck from behind by a box truck that was driven by Hoffmann. Deputies report that Scott's truck then left the road, flipped over and landed on one side of the truck.
