BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The US Navy is kicking off the last Navy Week event of the year in Baton Rouge.

The week runs from Monday, October 31 through Sunday, November 6. This will be the very first time the Capital City hosts the event.

Navy Weeks are designed to bring awareness to cities that don't have a significant Navy presence and to educate the community about what the Navy does and how it does it.

During the week, the Navy brings in multiple assets to demonstrate to communities outside major fleet concentration areas what they do and often something as simple as what they look like.

The Navy currently has a simulator running at the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair.

The US Fleet Forces band will also be playing around Baton Rouge throughout the week.
