Southern's Human Jukebox gears up for Homecoming

Southern's Human Jukebox prepares for homecoming

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern University's Human Jukebox is getting set for one of its biggest performances of the year as the Jaguars get set to host Arkansas-Pine Bluff for their Homecoming on Saturday, October 22 at A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Homecoming is a kinship, a fellowship, a friendship and even a relationship and the band is the glue that sticks it all together to make the whole event a success, including the football game itself.

"We're practicing hard so we can bring it for our fans," said Southern band director Nathan Haymer. "Louisiana is a great state, but I know what we do better than other people is the music, the food, and the parties, so if you haven't come to Southern Homecoming and this is your first time here you're in for a great surprise."

On Saturday, it will be show time not only for the band but for the Jaguars football team as well. Dawson Odums' bunch is unbeaten in SWAC play and favored against Arkansas in Saturday's match-up in what should be a packed house at the stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
