Former Baton Rouge Fire captain acquitted of rape charges in TN

MEMPHIS, TN (WAFB) -

A former captain with the Baton Rouge Fire Department accused of raping a child in Memphis, Tennessee has been acquitted of all charges. 

Roman Bates, 57, of Baton Rouge, was arrested in Orleans Parish in June 2015 after being wanted on outstanding warrants in Shelby County, TN.

Bates was indicted by a grand jury and charged with rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated statutory rape and sexual battery.

BRFD said Bates worked with the department from 1990 until his arrest in June 2015.
