BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana will get millions of dollars to help keep your food safe.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says the Bayou State will receive more than $3 million to help meet new safety standards.
Back in 2015, the FDA finalized the new standards for growing, harvesting and packing fruits and vegetables.
Louisiana is one of 42 states to receive the money.
Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Mike Strain said he will use some of the money to create a partnership with the federal government, which could mean more training for some farmers.
