Baton Rouge man dies after vehicle crashes, catches on fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A 61-year-old man died after his car crashed and caught on fire, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. 

Police said Leonard Jackson was driving on the North I-110 exit ramp at Hwy 19 (Scotland Ave) around 3:30 a.m. Thursday when his vehicle ran off the right shoulder. 

According to officials, Jackson's vehicle crashed into a tree and burst into flames. They added he was trapped inside the burning vehicle. 

The coroner's office declared Jackson dead at the scene. 

Police said the crash is still under investigation.
