BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A family working to recover from the devastating flooding in August suffered a major setback when their home was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Cyrus Avenue near East Brookstown Drive around 3 a.m.
Curt Monte with BRFD said the entire house was in a blaze when firefighters made it to the scene. He added the roof collapsed a short time later.
According to Monte, firemen were able to keep the flames from spreading to other homes.
He confirmed the house was undergoing repairs caused by the flooding.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
