BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Turns out Boy Scouts in Metro Baton Rouge have an eagle scout to admire right in front of them.
LSU quarterback Danny Etling was a guest at Tuesday's Business and Industry Leaders Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza. Gov. John Bel Edwards and WAFB's Jay Grymes also attended the event that was hosted by the Istrouma Area Boy Scout Council.
Etling told the crowd pushing for scouting's highest honor helped him in football.
"Definitely the leadership. It's something that you kind of have to do especially for your last project. So you can't really be involved, you have to lead," Etling said. "And so it was having to organize and put together things that you still have to use today of trying to get everyone together and watch film and get everyone together kind of towards a common goal, and that's what I still have to use today."
Etling said boys who are scouts now should stick to their pursuit of eagle scout. He said lessons he learned there still help him today.
