Free school meal program extended in Ascension schools through Oct. due to flooding

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Due to the recent flooding back in August, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Service has extended its free child nutrition program for impacted schools in Ascension Parish through the month of October. This includes the six schools in the parish that sustained damaged and the six schools that are hosting displaced schools.

All students will be offered a free breakfast and a free lunch every school day from October 5 - 31 if they attend one of the following schools:

  • Central Middle
  • Duplessis Primary
  • Dutchtown High
  • Galvez Primary
  • Galvez Middle
  • G.W. Carver Primary
  • Lake Elementary
  • Lakeside Primary
  • Prairieville Middle
  • St. Amant Middle
  • St. Amant Primary
  • St. Amant High

Please note, only one free breakfast and one free lunch will be offered. Second meals are not free. They will be sold for $3.75 each. Students who have been impacted by the flooding who attend other schools in Ascension Parish are encouraged to apply for free/reduced meals here.
