BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Thanks to a generous donation, dozens of flood victims have cozy new mattresses to sleep on.
A group known as Bayou Meets the Bay delivered a truckload of new beds to police officers impacted by the August flooding on Friday, October 7. Some of the group's leaders are from Baton Rouge, which is how they knew there were police officers in need.
A plant that manufactures mattresses in Houston also helped out for the cause.
"We felt the need to come to Baton Rouge and make the officers feel special and show that we do care about them. We want them to care about us and try to have a good relationship. We feel it's important for them to have their homes in order so they can come out and take care of the rest of the community," said James Johnson of Bayou Meets the Bay.
