Work-out Wear

  • Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in.  Your clothing should be loose fitting.
  • The best option is to dress in layers.  If it is cool out, wear a sweatshirt and a shirt underneath.  You can take off layers as you warm up.  And add layers when you get cool.
  • If you do not plan to walk up a sweat, a system can be as simple as a t-shirt, light sweater, and windproof jacket.
  • If you sweat while walking, you should invest in CoolMax or polypropylene shirts to wick the sweat away from the body.
  • Wear polar fleece or wool if you are in cooler climates.
  • Socks should be comfortable.  High-tech fiber socks are designed to keep your feet drier and prevent blisters.
  • Wear a hat to reduce sun exposure and heat lose.
  • If you are walking outdoors, wear sunglasses to protect you eyes from the sun.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • Carry keys and other articles in pockets, on a  lanyard or a hip pack.
  • If you plan on walking for a halfhour, bring water.
