BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Please consider this our appeal to the governor of Louisiana and our state's attorney general to resolve their differences without resorting to filing lawsuits against one another.
Our state is facing many real problems right now, among them, not enough public money to go around to fix things like roads or to help lift up the people who have been devastated by the flooding. But now, some of our state tax dollars will be going to hire private attorneys so that the governor can sue the attorney general.
These are both principled people. The principle they're arguing about is protection from discrimination against the LGBT community in state contracts. It's an important issue, but it's one that previous state leaders have been able to navigate without suing one another.
Louisiana has many much more pressing issues than this one. We urge cooler heads to prevail before we spend precious state tax dollars and our leaders' time and energy on this.
That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to email@example.com.
