Six arrested, accused of bringing drugs into Assumption Parish Detention Center

ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Six people have been arrested and are accused of introducing contraband, including illegal drugs, into the Parish Detention Center, says Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon.

An investigation was initiated several weeks ago after corrections employees reported suspicious activities outside of the facility's perimeter. The investigation revealed that contraband was being delivered to the facility and then distributed inside by at least two inmates.

The Sheriff's Department identified and filed arrest warrants against six suspects. Their identities and charges are as follows:

  • Amber Stevens, 22, of Labadieville was arrested Thursday, September 29 and charged with:
    • Introducing contraband into a penal institution (two counts)
    • Distribution of marijuana (one count)
    • Possession of drug paraphernalia (one count)
  • Ashley Robichaux, 27, of Thibodaux was arrested Thursday, September 29 and charged with:
    • Introducing contraband into a penal institution (one count)
    • Distribution of marijuana (one count)
    • Possession of drug paraphernalia (one count)
  • Jaycee Rentrop, 21, of Bayou L'Ourse was arrested Thursday, September 29 and charged with:
    • Criminal conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana (one count)
    • Criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution (one count)
  • Beau Matte, 26, of Bayou L'Ourse was charged with:
    • Criminal conspiracy to possess marijuana (one count)
    • Criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution (one count)
  • Drake Geisler, 22, of Bayou L'Ourse was charged with:
    • Criminal conspiracy to possess marijuana (one count)
    • Criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution (one count)
  • Billy Chapman, 29, of Port Allen was charged with: 
    • Introducing contraband into a penal institution (one count)
    • Criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution (one count)

All six suspects were incarcerated pending bond hearings. Matte was already in jail on theft and criminal damage charges. Chapman was also already in jail on theft and monetary instrument abuse charges. Geisler was being held of charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, theft, and numerous boating violations.
