LIVONIA, LA (WAFB) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a car slammed into the back of a school bus Thursday morning, but all of the students are said to be fine, according to officials.
Louisiana State Police reported the crash happened on LA 77 north of Livonia near Fordoche.
Superintendent Kevin Lemoine, head of Pointe Coupee Parish Schools, said all of the students on the bus are okay.
Sheriff Bud Torres said the driver and passenger of the sedan had to be extricated and were taken to Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Troopers with LSP reported the driver was flown to the hospital by helicopter after suffering serious injuries in the crash.
An official in Pointe Coupee Parish reported there were 57 passengers on board the school bus.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
