AMITE, LA (WAFB) - A woman was arrested after she allegedly killed a man outside a nightclub in Amite.
On Friday, September 23, deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office began investigating a shooting that occurred at Mr. J's Nightclub located on McCoy Lane. The victim, Nathan Diamond of Kentwood, was 47-years-old.
The suspected shooter, Samantha Watkins, 34, of Independence, allegedly shot Diamond after the two had an argument inside the nightclub.
According to the sheriff's office, the two began arguing and Diamond allegedly became physical. Watkins alleged that Diamond struck her in the face and she retaliated by shooting him.
Two shots were fired, of which at least one hit Diamond.
After the shooting, Watkins immediately exited the nightclub and surrendered herself to deputies. She was subsequently charged with second-degree murder.
