BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Saturday, September 24, Perkins Rowe will host Relief at the Rowe - A Day for Our Community, an event to benefit local flood victims.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to closing. Money raised will benefit local flood relief efforts through St. Vincent de Paul's House in a Box program, which provides new household items for families who lost everything.
Many Perkins Rowe retailers and restaurants will donate a portion of the day's proceeds to the effort. The facility will also donate 100 percent of money collected from the property's parking meters during the entire month of September.
"We're committed to being an active member of our local community. The recent flooding affected thousands of people here, and that includes many who work, shop, dine, or simply enjoy themselves at Perkins Rowe. We're excited to create this opportunity for everyone to join together in making a difference for those who need our help," said Paula Briggs, marketing manager at Perkins Rowe.
"The need for this type of service in our community has never been greater. Perkins Rowe's generosity will serve those whose lives have been dramatically devastated by the floods," said Michael Acaldo, CEO of St. Vincent de Paul.
Relief at the Rowe will coincide with the 7th Annual Perkins Rowe Arts Festival. Forty artists from Louisiana will present and sell original artwork, including pottery, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, photographs, glass, paintings, and more. The event will also feature free children's activities and live musical performances.
