Information from Baton Rouge Government:
The Sept. 30 deadline is nearing for the expenditure of nearly $100,00 in funds recently received for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (,LIHEAP), according to City-Parish Director of Human Development and Services Paula Roddy.
Roddy said the East Baton Rouge Parish Office of Social Services has received an extra allocation of LIHEAP funds totaling $99,871.93 that must be obligated by the end of September. The program allows income-eligible persons living in East Baton Rouge Parish to have their energy bills paid directly to their energy provider.
Roddy said EBR Parish residents who meet the eligibility guidelines below can call on Friday morning, September 23, to be placed on a wait list for an appointment time at one of the following Community Centers (see below) for assistance with either crisis situations involving a disconnect notice; or non-crisis situations where no disconnect notice is involved. Please note: Clients are provided services on a first come/first served basis based on names placed on the wait list.
