BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU has released its enrollment numbers for the fall and the overall figures are similar to last year, but the university has reached new highs in certain areas.
LSU reported its total overall enrollment is 31,414, which is only about 100 students fewer than last year's total.
Officials said this fall's freshman class is the "most academically talented" ever to enter the university. The group boasts a composite ACT score of 25.7 and a 3.4 GPA.
Officials added the African American and Hispanic enrollment numbers for the fall are at an all-time high.
"We are proud to welcome one of our most diverse student bodies ever to LSU," said LSU President F. King Alexander. "And we're happy to say that our progress doesn't end with the first semester. For three consecutive years now, we've been able to celebrate new records for the number of African American and Hispanic graduates, and we expect to maintain that trajectory moving forward."
