ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -

A woman faces forgery and theft charges for allegedly submitting fake invoices to a non-profit business to be reimbursed in cash.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Suni Christiansen, 26, of Zachary, was booked into the parish prison early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said she is accused of presenting invoices to a non-profit adoption agency that gives money for housing and medical bills to mothers who wish to give up their child for adoption.

They added the invoices were reportedly from a medical clinic in Zachary, but after being contacted, the clinic informed the non-profit that the invoices were fake.

According to the probable cause report, Christiansen received $3,908.21 from the fake invoices.

She is charged with seven counts of forgery and theft. Her bond is set at $24,000.
