BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - From Livingston to Baton Rouge, the flood relief efforts continue, this time in the form of a homecoming dress giveaway for girls affected by the flooding.
St. Joseph's Academy Arts Center alumnae hosted a dress drive and giveaway for girls. They collected about 250 dresses from many individuals and local boutiques who donated to the cause. On Sunday, September 18, girls from all around the Baton Rouge area got to pick out the dress of their choice, making sure the recent flooding does not keep them from that special dance.
"The girls need to feel special in their time of need. You know, resources may be allocated towards, you know, other things, their homes and what not, so we don't want homecoming to go by the wayside. It's a special time in a girl's life and high school. We remember being there," said St. Joseph's Academy alumna, Mignon Kastanos.
Organizers of the giveaway say they gave out more than 100 dresses.
