ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Ascension Public Schools has announced that Taylor Swift is donating $50,000 to schools in the parish affected by the historic August flooding.
"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of those wanting to help our students. We are particularly honored that Taylor Swift is reaching out to us. Her investment in our children will have far reaching impacts as we recover from the flood," said Ascension Public Schools superintendent, David Alexander.
Five of the district's 27 schools are currently closed due the impact of recent flooding, displacing 5,000 students. Over 500 Ascension Parish Schools employees' houses were also damaged by flood waters.
