BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators suspect foul play was involved in a vacant house catching fire early Wednesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on St. Katherine Avenue, which is off Airline Highway near Hollywood Street, around 3:30 a.m.

Curt Monte with BRFD said investigators believe an incendiary may have contributed to the fire. He added they are still investigating whether it was intentionally set.

According to Monte, the living room was on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene. He said they were able to keep the flames contained to that room.

Monte reported there was heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.
