BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A kids shoe store on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge has already begun funneling donations to flood victims.
Oh Pair Children's Shoe Boutique is holding a shoe drive to help children affected by the historic August floods and the owner said the response has been great.
"So you think when they say they want to help out they'll send a few hundred pairs, but 4,000 pair? It's just amazing!" said Raegan Bowman, owner of Oh Pair.
Big trucks unloaded a donation from Havaianas at the shop Tuesday. The shoes from the drive will be given to children in Central as well as Livingston and Ascension parishes.
So many shoes were delivered that they would not all fit in the store building. The boxes that would not fit in the store were set to go out Tuesday.
Bowman said that schools will let her know who needs tennis shoes and socks and she will order them.
Anyone who would like to donate money for the shoe drive can visit its GoFundMe page.
