SLIDELL, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police said an elderly man is facing hundreds of counts after more than two dozen terabytes of suspected child porn was found on electronic devices in his home.

Troopers said Lanier Lively, 73, of Slidell, was arrested Friday. They added detectives with the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit started an investigation in April that reportedly pointed to Lively sharing explicit child porn files over the internet.

"There is no more appalling criminal than those who target our children," Col. Mike Edmonson, superintendent of Louisiana State Police, said in a written release. "I will ensure that our agency continues to utilize all available investigative resources to arrest and prosecute those who sexually exploit our children from the darkest corners of the internet."

Tpr. Dustin Dwight with LSP said detectives with Louisiana State Police and Homeland Security Investigations searched Lively’s home Friday and reportedly found 23 electronic devices totaling more than 31 terabytes of suspected child porn.

He added Lively is charged with 500 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
