WALKER, LA (WAFB) - A Louisiana native is desperately trying to find her father's beloved "Jack the Cat" that was lost during last month's flood evacuation.
Sherry Walker says her father, his cat named Jack, and his dog were rescued by boat from their flooded home and taken about three miles away to the parking lot of the Stine home improvement store in Walker, Louisiana.
Her father was injured and immediately taken from the boat to an ambulance, Walker said.
"Then somebody grabbed the cat and the dog from the boat and told him they'd take care of them," she said. "But the dog took off running and I ended up finding him in a shelter a few days later."
Nicknamed "Jack the Cat," the 10-year-old feline was rescued by Walker and her family the day before Hurricane Gustav hit the Baton Rouge area in 2008 when they found him near a hotel.
Walker says she and friends have searched everywhere that they can think of, including numerous animal shelters. "We're just so upset and don't know what else to do," she said.
Jack is a male blue Russian mix and is neutered. If you have seen him or know where he is, please call or text Walker at 504-722-5110.
