LSU head coach Les Miles addressed the media Monday afternoon about the team's win over Jacksonville State and upcoming game at Tiger Stadium against Mississippi State on Saturday.
Miles said his players started slow and needed a little "pick-me-up," so coaches put Danny Etling in the game. He said both he and Brandon Harris will be needed to play in every game.
Miles said he will not name a starter until he talks to his team. He added running back Leonard Fournette, who sat out the game against Jacksonville State, should be ready to go against Mississippi State.
Miles said the defense made some big plays, but also gave up some big plays. He said when defensive ends Lewis Neal and Arden Key both rush the passer, they create some serious heat in the opposing backfield.
According to Miles, the Bulldogs have a very talented team with a dynamic offense. Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald set a school record against South Carolina. Fitzgerald ran the ball 17 times for 195 yards, which was a Mississippi State record in rush yards by a quarterback.
This will be the Tigers' first SEC game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2.
