BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Friday, September 9, a woman was arrested after leaving two children in an unlocked car on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the two children were found in the unlocked car in the 9000 block of Airline Hwy. The children had no water and the car did not have working AC. The officer noted the temperature outside was 90 degrees (98 with the heat index).
When the officer approached the woman, Tilah Santiago, 31, of Baton Rouge, she allegedly began to push the officer trying to detain her.
The two children, a 1-year-old and an infant, were transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Santiago is charged with battery of an officer, resisting by force/violence, cruelty to juveniles, and child desertion.
