BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern University and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel are partnering to support flood relief and to celebrate Southern's opening game against Alabama State on September 17.
The SU Fan Fest: Jaguar Tough, Louisiana Strong will be held on Monday, September 12 at the Belle of Baton Rouge downtown. Fan are encouraged to participate in a donation drive to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
The food bank is currently in the process of cleaning, disinfecting, and refurbishing their facility at the Fraenkel Center and is operating out of a temporary warehouse. Fans can donate items such as non-perishable food, canned goods, and water.
The Gold-N-Bluez dance team will be at the event to welcome fans when the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Free parking will be available at the parking garage at the Belle.
The free event includes live performances by the SU Human Jukebox, the Dancing Dolls, and the SU varsity cheerleaders.
After the event, members of the Jaguar team will be available for autographs. Southern head football coach, Dawson Odums, will also be on hand to address fans. Coaches and players from Southern's cross country, soccer, and volleyballs teams will also be available for autographs and to take photos with fans.
