WATSON, LA (WAFB) -

As communities continue to recover from recent flooding, all some want is to feel normal again. Deanna Dickinson, the owner of the Mane Attraction hair salon in Watson, has made it her passion to help people do exactly that.

"I was lucky. I didn't flood. I still have all my stuff. I have a lot of clients who lost everything," Dickinson said.

It was while cutting hair for free that Deanna thought of another way to help her community.

"Deanna's goal is that at the end of the day if she can help one parent buy an appliance for the home rather than homecoming, she's done a good deed," said Barbara Gallo, Dickinson’s mom.
