PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - A case centering on a deadly accident at a Geismar refinery is set to get underway in court.
Jury selection started Tuesday in the trail dealing with the deadly explosion at the Williams Olefins plant in June 2013.
The plant faces a lawsuit after the explosion left two people dead and 77 others injured. An investigation showed that a piece of equipment had been over-pressurized and blew apart.
Opening statements are expected to start Wednesday in a Plaquemine courtroom.
On Thursday, August 4, Judge Elizabeth Engolia denied five motions by Williams Olefins and other defendants for the lawsuit to be thrown out.
