LSU tumbles at least 15 spots in AP and Coaches polls

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU, considered by many experts to be a major player in the college football playoffs, fell 15 spots in the AP Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday.

After LSU's 16-14 loss to Wisconsin Badgers in a nationally-televised season opener, the Tigers fell from No. 5 to No. 21.

Alabama tops the poll at No. 1, followed by Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State and Michigan. Wisconsin, who was unranked before its win Saturday, is now sitting at No. 10. 

Other SEC teams in the AP Top 25:
(9) Georgia
(17) Tennessee
(19) Ole Miss
(20) Texas A&M 

LSU also dropped 16 spots in the latest Amway Coaches Poll with the Tigers going from No. 6 to No. 22. Wisconsin jumped up 11 spots from No. 27 to No. 16. 

Alabama is No. 1 followed by Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State and Stanford.

The Tigers will try to bounce back Saturday night in Tiger Stadium against Jacksonville State.
