PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - Police say a man wanted for attempted murder turned himself in to authorities.
Kendric Carmenia has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Officials with the Port Allen Police Department said the shooting occurred in the late afternoon on August 31 at the Allen Food Mart. They said the entire incident was captured on surveillance cameras.
"[Carmenia] is seen on the footage exiting the store and engaging in a stare down with the victim as they passed each other before he was struck in the face by an adult female accompanying the victim," officials said in a press release. "Carmenia then shuffled away, pulled a 9mm handgun from his waistband, and then walked up the sidewalk where he began firing at the victim striking him once."
Investigators said the footage shows Carmenia firing at least one more round at the victim, who was attempting to run away.
