BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - School officials are braced for dramatic changes when students return to school in East Baton Rouge Parish.
School board members heard that students migrated as evacuees to Woodlawn, downtown, Mid-City and along the interstate corridor, where families are in hotels. More than 800 teachers are still displaced Thursday night because of the flooding.
"You can see the area where most of our students reported or their parents reported where they lived before the flood. After you can see how much that drastically changed."
Students go back to school Tuesday, Sept. 6. Officials originally announced students would return on August 24, but safety concerns caused them to push back the return date.
Students are asked to wear uniforms to school unless they do not have any. Those students can attend wearing what they have.
