Crime Stoppers: Woman accused of writing thousands of dollars in worthless checks

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in locating a woman accused of owing more than $12,000 to landlords.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is trying to find Joaquina Winslow, 37. She is 5’6” and weighs 185 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Winslow is wanted on charges of issuing worthless checks and felony theft.

Investigators said the $7,400 worth of checks she paid her rent with for four months were returned unpaid by the bank. They added she didn’t try to pay rent over the next three months.

According to officials, Winslow moved out of the apartment owing $11,700 in rent.

Crime Stoppers said in an unrelated case, Winslow is accused of renting a facility with a $680 check that was returned "account closed."
