Meet the candidates: Local race forums, debates

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Open Primary election is on November 8, and the Open General election is on December 10, 2016. Early voting in Louisiana began Tuesday, Oct. 25.

You can meet the candidates and learn more about their platforms at one of the scheduled forums listed below.


  • Forum 35 will host a Baton Rouge Mayor-President Candidate Social for young professionals in the Capital City. The event will be held from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Tin Roof Brewing Co., located at 1624 Wyoming Street, Baton Rouge. All 12 candidates vying for the position of Mayor-President of the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge have been invited to participate. The candidates will have the opportunity to mingle with the crowd and will be given five (5) minutes on the soapbox to share their vision for the future of the city with the audience. Each candidate’s speech will be streamed live via Forum 35’s Facebook page.


  • Following the Soapbox Social, a Runoff Forum will be hosted by Forum 35 and the LSU Public Administration Institute Student Association. The event will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Louisiana State University’s Business Education Complex Auditorium, Room 1510, Baton Rouge.
