PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - The Plaquemine Green Devils thrilled to have brand new turf at their stadium, which was put to good used when they hosted West Feliciana in a scrimmage.
The Green Devils with a small, but very talented group of 13 seniors, who are aiming for their fourth district title in a row.
"People don't put as much stock in district as they used to, but it's a pride thing. And we have a very tough predistrict schedule with Brother Martin, St Thomas More, Riverside, Port Allen and South LaFourche. And our district is tough as well," said head coach Paul Distefano.
The defense should be a strength also, with 10 starters returning on that side of the ball, including a secondary with national recruit Todd Harris and junior big play maker Wayne Toussaint at corner, who doubles as an offensive threat.
However, there's a new face behind center as sophomore Trey LeBlanc takes over at quarterback.
"He's been coming along. He hasn't missed any workouts this summer. He's really been getting it in with us, and we really believe in him, all as a team," said senior running back Kevin Dominque.
"He's doing a great job and we're just helping him through it. We're going to give him all the support we can, and we know he'll do all he can," said senior offensive lineman Abraham Delfin.
