BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

State Sen. Bodi White along with other senators recognized David Phung and members of the Cajun Navy Thursday at a special Senate meeting.

The brave volunteers were given proclamations for their hard work and dedication to rescuing people during the recent historic flooding event. One of the members of the Cajun Navy said it was an honor and it is really just the south Louisiana way.

"It's basically, it's the definition of south Louisiana. It's friends helping friends, it's neighbors helping neighbors and it just shows what a great place we live in," said Dustin Clouatre with the Cajun Navy.

Members of law enforcement were on hand and were also thanked for their response to the historic flooding.
