BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Siegen Lane has reopened in both directions with the exception of the right southbound lane after an 18-wheeler carrying ethanol overturned Tuesday morning.

The St. George Fire Department reported it happened on Siegen near I-10. Officials said Siegen is closed in both directions at Cloverland Avenue.

Officials report that the ethanol has been unloaded from the wrecked trailer onto another trailer. Officials said that had to be done before responders could clear the roadway.

According to Louisiana State Police, crews are now working to bring the crashed 18-wheeler upright so it can be removed from the scene.

Businesses at that intersection were evacuated as a precaution, according to Eldon Ledoux with SGFD.

He said there is no danger to the public. He added traffic is the main issue associated with the crash as drivers were urged to avoid the area. He also said air and water run-off are being carefully monitored.

LSP HazMat and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office are also on the scene.
