Man's ode to Louisiana celebrates everyday heroes

EUNICE, LA (WAFB) - A singer/songwriter from Eunice, LA has captured the spirit of Louisiana. And his simple Facebook video is not only touching hearts, it's going viral.

As Josh Johnson watched flood waters inundate South Louisiana, he was inspired by ordinary people stepping up to do extraordinary things. Whether it was the "Cajun Navy" or just neighbors helping neighbors, the passion and pride was something he couldn't get out of his head. So he put it in a song titled, "Thicker Than High Water".

"It talks about how we deal with hardship and overcome adversity in our area," Johnson explained.

We're proud and strong. In hard times, we ain't bothered. Louisiana blood is thicker than high water.

Johnson has been overwhelmed by the positive reception the song is receiving online. He said people keep asking him when it will be released as a single, and available for download. There's no set date, but he said he's working to get it out as soon as possible.

Johnson said he's had this Facebook page up for two years, and this is the first time a song he's written has gone viral.
