Pedestrian killed in Tickfaw crash identified

TICKFAW, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Tickfaw. 

That pedestrian has been identified as Joni Fricano, 36, of Independence, LA.

State Police say the crash happened just after 11 p.m. Friday on US 51 near the intersection of Pardo Road. 

According to State Police, an initial investigation revealed that Fricano was walking south in the northbound lane of US 51 when she was struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer traveling northbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office. 

The driver of the truck, 37-year-old Kevin Weston, submitted at voluntary breath sample, which showed no amount of alcohol present.
