FEMA warns of 'Mold Free Certificates of Occupancy' scam

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Officials with FEMA are warning residents to look out for a potential scam.

In a release, officials say there have been individuals canvassing neighborhoods selling "Mold Free Certificates of Occupancy" and telling residents that they will not be able to reoccupy their home without paying $1000 to receive one.

Officials would like for the public to help spread the word about this scam. If you or anyone you know comes in contact with one of these individuals, call your local law enforcement.

Thanksgiving is about sharing, so we want to share something with you. In 1978, CBS news' "On The Road" segment was hosted by Charles Kuralt.
