BAKER, LA (WAFB) - The City of Baker School System has announced that students will be returning to school on Monday, August 22 but there will be a few adjustments made to accommodate students.
In a release, the Baker School System said that Baker High School students will be moved to Baker Middle School while officials work to make sure that the school is safe for the students after the school received a little bit of water during the flooding.
Dr. Herman Brister with the City of Baker School System said that while the school seems to be ready for classes, he thinks that it would be best to "error on the side of safety to make sure that school is environmentally safe for our students."
Baker Middle School students will be moved to Bakerfield Elementary. The students of Bakerfield Elementary will be merged with Baker Heights Elementary.
Students who catch the bus will be picked up at their usual stops and brought to their new school location. Baker High students who walk to school are asked to walk to Baker High where they will board a school bus to bring them to Baker Middle.
Brister encourages students and parents to keep up with updates by visiting the school system's website at www.bakerschools.org.
