Firefighter accidentally shot in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A north Louisiana firefighter from Benton Fire District #4 who traveled to Baton Rouge to help with flood rescue efforts is believed to have accidentally discharged his weapon, wounding another firefighter, officials said.

The firefighter shot has now been identified as Charles "Chucky" Stevens, 33.

Investigators say the bullet first hit a boat and then hit the firefighter, who is part of South Bossier Fire District #2.

The incident happened Monday night in the 9000 block of Greenwell Springs Road.

No further information was immediately released. The firefighter hit is in serious, but stable condition.
